Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey, Danny, LeeAnn and Caroli! |
November 3, 2005 Finally At Home |
We
are finally home. It was a great day all around. We left LA at 7:00am
and arrived here in Atlanta at 2:00. We bought an extra seat for
Caroli (as we did on the flight from China to LA) and it worked out
very well. We laid a blanket on the seat and she slept for the
entire flight.
Her Uncle Pooter met us at the airport to take pictures and welcome
her to Atlanta. Caroli was pretty much out of it but to Uncle Pooter
just fine. Knowing that he is a big Falcons football fan, she wore a
Falcons warm up suit in his honor.
Our ride home was a white stretch limo. It was the only way to go.
Once again, we had spent so much money already that it almost no longer
matters.
When we arrived home we discovered that our next door neighbors had
prepared our doorway for Caroli’s arrival. What great people. Our
neighbors across the street welcomed Caroli home with balloons and
flowers.
Now the next project is to get us all acclimated to Eastern
Standard Time. Right now 9:00am here is 9:00pm there. So Caroli is on
the exact opposite sleep schedule. Not that she cares. As long as the
food and diaper changes keep coming and she gets to play when she wants
- all is good.
The same sleep issues we had in Guangzhou have followed us
home. We now believe she is experiencing night terrors - we had
heard about other babies experiencing the same. She will sleep
for a half hour or so and then start crying uncontrollably but she’s
still asleep. She only seems to be comforted by her being held
and then rocked until calm again. The cycle starts all over again
about a half hour later. This makes for quite fitful sleep for both her and us. Needless to say, we are all exhausted as a result.
We will be posting a home update in two weeks. If you are going to
travel and have any questions about our experience we would be happy to
help. Simply email us through this site. The home update will
include some things we learned on this trip that will help us on the
next one. We will also include things that we wish we had known before
we left. |
