Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey, Danny, LeeAnn and Caroli! |
October 26, 2005 Happy 8th Month Old Birthday! |
Today
we went to Panda World. Panda World has not only pandas, but a
butterfly garden, assorted black bears and a patrol dog exhibit. They
also have lots of mosquitoes although I don’t think they are officially
part of Panda World. Just in case you don’t believe me about the Patrol
Dog Exhibit, check out the picture below.
Caroli had a great time at Panda World. First we saw some pandas
during which time she slept. Then we saw other assorted bears, during
which time she slept. Then there was the Butterfly Garden which
was really well done, during which time she slept. After that came the
patrol dogs that barked very loud. Of course she slept right through
that too.
There were several school groups there of young children. They practiced their English on us - lots of “hello” and “hi”.
The only time she was awake was during the drive to and from Panda
World and that’s a good thing because the way people drive around here
we needed all the eyes on the road we could get.
This afternoon we finalized some paperwork for the Chinese
government and ate dinner from Pizza Hut. Again. We checked out
the looks of the KFC and determined that it looked like what Kentucky
Fried Chicken should look like. So we will try that soon.
By the way, the Pizza Hut here is the nicest I have ever seen. They
were dressed up in Halloween costumes even though the Chinese do not
really do Halloween at all. They offered many kinds of soup and the
pizza de jur was Deep Sea Eel Pizza. Yummy.
We are awaiting word from our U of Cincinnati doctor on Caroi’s
rash - today it has spread like crazy. We took a picture of it and
emailed it to the doctor there so she can give us advice. So far the
normal stuff really isn’t working. This is normal for these adoptions.
Their skin is very sensitive and the trick is to figure out what kind
of rash we are dealing with. We already have what we need, we just need
to know what to give. This is causing her a lot of discomfort
especially when she tries to go to sleep.
We are all ready to come home and establish some kind of routine.
Living in a hotel room (in a place so different from what we are used
to) with a baby is a little stressful. But this too shall pass.
In the meantime we will take Caroli to many other interesting places to
nap. We also are anxious to have an assessment made by her
pediatrician - especially her lack of developmental skills.
Tomorrow will be a big day for myself and Derek (the other new
dad). We have procured permission to make the five hour drive to the
orphanage where our babies had so far been raised. We will be able to
see the inside of the orphanage which is something that we were
originally told we could not do. We will take many pictures and bring
back lots of video.
By the way, we are getting all of the email that is being sent to
us through this web site. We appreciate it greatly. The front office
ladies of JJ Daniell Middle School will soon get to fight over who
holds Caroli first. |
