Thanks so much for visiting us during our journey, Danny, LeeAnn and Caroli! |
November 1, 2005 Getting ready to leave tomorrow |
Tomorrow
we will begin the journey home. All is done except for an oath taking
ceremony at the US Consulate and receiving Caroli‘s visa. That will
take place at 4:00 tomorrow. After that we will head for the airport to
catch a 9:00 flight to LA. We leave at 9:00pm on Wednesday and arrive
at 6:00 pm the same day. The wonders of the international dateline. We
will arrive in LA three hours before we take off. We will spend
the night in LA (which will be daytime our body clock
time) and land in Atlanta on Thursday afternoon.
Today was spent shopping and resting for tomorrow.
This is a long flight for grown-ups. It will be even longer with a baby. And not just one baby either.
There will be many babies on board. All adopted, all heading home
with their new parents to a life they never could have expected. And
they will all cry at some point. Their parents will cry too, but
these will not be tears of joy - they will be tears of sheer
exhaustion.
Today Caroli was very fussy. That’s probably because she was fussy
last night. All night. This was one tough night. We ruled out all the
normal stuff and just chalked it up to be too tired. I wanted to be
fussy but the kid beat me to it. I’ll try again tomorrow.
The rash that she had is all but gone now. But she is teething. And
drooling. I’ve never seen this much water and not be at the beach.
Watching mom try to keep up with the river of slobber and keep it wiped
up is a real treat. TV is no good here so watching her do non-stop
spit-control will have to do. She is really very good at it. She can
see the stream at its inception and intercept it from any distance
before it lands on Caroli’s clothes. Personally I think it could be an
Olympic event.
We have included some random pictures of the day. We hope you
enjoy. We would like to thank everyone who has followed our journey to
Caroli. It has been heartwarming to read your responses and to know
that we have so much support at home. This experience has been felt to
some degree by so many people. To LeeAnn’s friends and co-workers (both
current and
former) - you guys are the best. Your encouragement has been
wonderful. To my good friends at JJ Daniell Middle School- thanks again
for all that you do. We would like to thank those at both places who
have had to work harder in our absence. We owe you so much. And to our
bosses who have also been so encouraging we thank you as well. This
trip would have been impossible without your kindness and
understanding.
Caroli has many friends and a great family. We can’t wait until she can meet them all.
We will post again after we land in Atlanta on Thursday - we may
try to post from our stopover in LA on Wednesday. I’m sure there will
be a story or two after a fifteen hour flight with a plane load of
screaming babies. |
